Israel

The name "Israel" has ancient origins and holds significant historical and cultural importance. It is derived from the Hebrew word "Yisra'el," which translates to "struggles with God" or "God contended." The name carries deep religious, political, and symbolic implications rooted in the biblical narrative. According to the Hebrew Bible, Jacob, the grandson of Abraham, was given the name Israel after wrestling with an angel. Jacob's descendants came to be known as the Israelites, forming the basis of the Jewish people.
